About Our Tasting Room
Benchtop was founded to create brews utilizing innovative processes and ingredients. We use our tasting room as a research facility to fine tune our beverages in the name of continuous improvement based on what people really want. Don’t mistake this for us saying we will be everything to everyone. We have no desire to quench the thirst of those who prefer the boring and mediocre. We strike a harmonious blend between this scientific approach and the artistic freedom to add local ingredients that create a truly unique tasting experience.
We describe our style as “hop forward.” However, you will not find many mouth-blasting bitter brews. Instead we focus on the beautiful aromas and delicate flavors that the proper usage of hops can showcase. Virginia breweries have created a momentum that Benchtop builds on with its own unique approach. We also focus on Belgian-style farmhouse brews with a Benchtop twist and we will soon be launching an incredible sour program.
Benchtop’s location allows people to really enjoy the area, as we have some great brewery neighbors and fantastic dining and taphouse choices. We have also already entered into preliminary discussions about canning several of our beers to be sold exclusively in the tasting room at first.
Our innovative creations have been poured as samples at local establishments for months now. Now try them in their own home. Our lovely brewery is housed in an old customs warehouse that is sturdy as a tank. Benchtop brews its creations on a fully customized, shiny new brewing system made by Deutsche Beverage Technology out of good old Charlotte, NC. We have some really cool custom features that allow us a lot of flexibility in our beverage creation. Benchtop also has an onsite laboratory for monitoring and perfecting our brews. We’re excited to share the best of Benchtop’s creativity with you.
